The case will take place at Loughrea Courthouse, Wednesday-Friday, 27-29 October
Our religious discrimination case against NUI Galway is happening this week, Wednesday to Friday, 27-29 October at Loughrea Courthouse in Co. Galway.
It’s been seven years since we were banned for life from all student societies at NUI Galway.
Whilst students at NUI Galway, we exercised our right to simply put up a Christian table, to peacefully express our opposition to same-sex marriage.
Our table was vandalised. Almost every poster we put up was torn down by violent activists. We were threatened, abused, and harassed by this mob of students.
While this violent attack was taking place the University turned a blind eye to multiple complaints, stood idly by, and even supported and encouraged the attacks.
A few months later, we were banned for life from college societies, the first and only students to have been banned in the history of the University.
This case is about freedom of religion. While we hear much in these days about tolerance and equality, Christian belief and practice must also be respected and protected.
It is our Constitutional right to speak out what we believe, to practice our Christian faith. Indeed beyond that, it is a God-given right.
This case is about the preservation of religious freedom in our country.
The case opens at 10.30am on Wednesday this week at Loughrea Circuit Court. We invite you to attend.
